By-Laws

 

Article One: Name and Purpose

1.      Name-Chester Artists Association

2.      Sponsor regular programs for membership and guests

3.      Encourage critiques and workshops for the general membership

 

Article Two: Membership

1.      Applications for membership may be accepted at any time during the year

2.      Dues are $30 a year per member. Dues are payable in September and prorated during the year on a quarterly basic.

 

Article Three: Officers

1.      President: The President shall preside at all meetings of the Association and the Executive Board: shall appoint committee chairpersons, may call special meetings of the executive board or the membership: shall have authority to sign checks; shall serve as advisor to the Executive Board for the year following his or her term in office.

2.      Vice President: The Vice President shall, in the absence of the president, perform the duties of that office.

3.      Recording Secretary: The Recording Secretary shall keep minutes of the Executive Board and of the Association meetings, and keep a record of the attendance.

4.      Treasurer: The Treasurer shall keep an account of all monies of the association: shall collect all dues; pay all bills and give an annual written report.

5.      Parliamentarian: The Parliamentarian will keep parliamentary authority of this association using “parliamentary authority – Robert’s Rules of Order”

6.      Hospitality: The Hospitality persons will see that snacks and drinks are present at all meetings. Provided by a rotation with members.

 

Article Four: Elections

1.      The President at the March meeting will appoint a nominating committee chairperson. At that time nominations from the floor will be accepted provided the nominee has granted approval.

2.      The nominating committee shall present a proposed slate of officers at the April meeting. At this time nominations from the floor will be accepted provided approval has been granted by the nominee.

3.      A term of office shall consist of one year.

4.      Election of officers shall take place at the May meeting. Voting will be majority provided a quorum is present.

5.      Vacancies in office, except for the President, shall be appointed by the Executive Board to complete the term.

 

 

 

 

Article Five:

1.      Regular monthly meetings will be held September through June, with luncheons in December and June.

2.      In the event Chesterfield County Schools are closed; the monthly meeting will be cancelled and rescheduled for the following week.

3.      The Executive Board shall meet at the discretion of the President.

 

 

 

Constitution

 

Article One: Name and Purpose

            Section 1. The name of this organization shall be “Chester Artists Association”

Section 2. “Our objective is to nurture all aspects of Fine Art Expression and Appreciation to stimulate ideas and increase art knowledge”.

 

Article Two: Membership

Section 1. Membership shall be open to all persons who desire to participate in the Association’s objectives and meet the requirements for membership listed in the by-laws.

 

Article Three: Officers

4.      Treasurer

5.      Parliamentarian

6.      Hospitality

 

Article Four: Elections

            Officers shall be elected by the membership for a term of one year.

 

Article Five:

Article Six: Amendments or Revisions

The Constitution or By-laws may be amended or revised at any regular meeting by quorum vote provided the proposal has been submitted in writing to the voting member’s one month previous to the vote.
