February 24th Meeting Minutes

 

  1. Welcome – Visitors and new members – Richard is recovering from knee surgery – 22 people present plus our 2 presenters

 

  1. Secretary’s Report – Fred setting in for Ruby again

 

  1. Treasurer’s Report – Carol Dutcher – we have 26 paid members and $1175.96 in funds

 

  1. Hospitality – Judy Hamilton - today’s snacks are provided by Judy, Janet Vissar and Marti Fann

 

Please sign up for future meetings! – several people signed up to bring snacks

 

  1. Exhibits – Spring Arts & Crafts at the Chester Library May 12th 10 to 3 – the group will do a group show at a cost of $25. Marti can email an application to anyone who wants one.

 

  1. Swift Creek Mill pickup date? Nice article in the Village News. – Show closes March 3rd. Members can pickup artwork at the Mill on Wednesday March 7th or Thursday March 8th at 2PM both days.

 

  1. Everett Butler has offered to teach a class on collography a type of embossing. – the group decided they are interested in the free classes. It will be a two part class and there needs to be at least 5 people. Marti will contact Everett to set up the dates of the classes. Classes will be at the foundation building.

 

  1. Website – Fred Fann – Artist of the Month – Katherine Thompson, Rick Dobson, Susan Rutkoski and Judy Hamilton signed up for artist of the month.

 

  1. Open agenda & Kudo’s – Paulette Nesbitt sold a painting at the Swift Creek Mill show. Rick Dobson is having a show at Harvest, reception March 8th 5 to 7:30PM. Rick Dobson is the featured artist at Uptown Gallery, receptions March 2nd and April 6th. On April 28th there will be a display and discussion of maps and mapping making with maps dating back to the 14th century at the Chester Library. During May Charles Sheffield will have an art show at the foundation building. There will be an Art Walk in Chester during June. Art will be displayed at businesses, restaurants and the foundation building in Chester. Janet Vissar will check on renting a wall at Crossroads Art Center for the Chester Artists.
